Yeah But Whats The Deal With It
Carter Everywhere is a thermal mug that is resistant to the aromas of previous drinks. The ceramic coating inside the mug is odor-resistant and is designed to give you a full aroma sensation of your coffee. This is important because, in fact, its a big problem with insulated cups. While they undeniably retain heat, regrettably they also keep smells, fingerprints on the metal body and discoloration from coffee inside. Carter Everywhere Mug came to me for testing in a matte white version with a capacity of 355ml the perfect everyday capacity for me as a good coffee alternative at work . Well lets check it out!
Best With Handle: Chillout Life Stainless Steel Travel Mug With Removable Handle
Courtesy of Amazon
What We Love: Removable handle, sturdy stainless steel design, handy accessories
What We Dont Love: Not dishwasher recommended, may be slippery without handle
The drawback to travel mugs that come equipped with handles is that while the handle is convenient and useful, its not always needed and sometimes gets in the way.
This brushed-finish stainless-steel mug solves that conundrum with an easily removable ergonomic non-slip handle with secure, snug-fitting top rings. The double-wall vacuum-insulated technology keeps drinks cold for up to 24 hours and hot for up to eight hours, yet keeps the outer walls cool to the touch and free from condensation. There are two clear leak-proof lids, one that flips for cold drinks and another that slides for hot ones. It also comes with a five-year warranty, stainless-steel reusable straw, and a cleaning brush.

Cons: Its lid is easy to sip from and take off but its not designed to be tossed around with abandon, so you cant chuck it in your bag as you hurry out the door in the morning.

Not to mention, putting ceramic cups with double-walled insulation into the dishwasher can sometimes lead to water seeping between the layers. Yikes!

Long Wein Large Ceramic Coffee Mug Coffee Best For The Money
For enjoying a leisurely cup of coffee in the morning, youll probably want one made of porcelain, and one of the best ceramic coffee mugs out there is this one from Long Wein. They are affordable, useful, and perfect for use in the home.
Although there is an almost endless array of choices in porcelain mugs, we picked these for a couple of reasons. The first is that their wide mouth helps hot beverages cool off faster so you wont burn your mouth. Theyre also really affordable. Best of all, these are plain. So, you can buy one and paint it or have it decorated however you like if the spirit moves you.
One thing thats probably pretty obvious by looking at it is that its a poor choice for a travel mug. Not only is there no lid, but its wide mouth means that its more prone to spillage at even mild tips.

This hybrid mug combines the best of ceramic and stainless-steel mugs that results in better sturdiness. The Verdict: Whats The Best Travel Mug
All of the travel mugs included on this list are solid options. The final choice depends on your personal preferences. However, considering both features and affordability, the Contigo Autoseal West Loop is the best portable coffee mug for most users.
The West Loops closest competition is the Zojirushi SM-SA60, which loses points for its high price tag.
For those looking for the most affordable option, the Contigo SnapSeal Byron is also a decent option, but keep in mind that the lid design is not as good as the West Loops.

Who This Is For
Travel mugs, as their name implies, are for people who want to take beverages on the go. In addition to being portable, travel mugs also retain hot or cold temperatures for several hours so you can enjoy your coffee, tea, or cocoa over time. Compared to paper or styrofoam to-go cups or open ceramic mugs, a good travel mug will offer better insulation and also safeguard against leaks or spills. If you commute, work or travel outside, or simply want to savor drinks for longer, a travel mug is for you.
If you commute, work or travel outside, or simply want to savor drinks for longer, a travel mug is for you.
You can also save money and reduce your environmental impact, by taking a drink in a travel mug versus buying one on the go. According to a 2012 report, the average American spends $1,092 a year on coffee. And according to a 2014 CNN report, over 50 billion paper cups are thrown away every year . A travel mug offers green solutions to both problems.

Best Overall: Contigo 20
What We Love: Impressive temperature retention, ergonomic button lock, variety of colors and patterns
What We Dont Love: Not dishwasher-safe, doesnt fit all cupholders
This crowd-pleasing travel Contigo Travel mug has all the features needed for the coffee lover on the move. The Thermalock vacuum insulation keeps drinks piping hot for up to five hours or icy cold for up to 12 hours.
An easy-to-push button allows for one-handed drinking, but it can also be locked to prevent unintended pressing. Contigo’s patented Autoseal technology prevents both leaks and spills. Since the lid is constructed from one connected piece, theres nothing to misplace when you pop it in the top rack of your dishwasher. Our Commerce Editor, Siobhan Wallace, advises doing this, or the spring inside the lid will start to accumulate gunk . The stainless-steel body does need to be washed by hand.

The leak-proof cap can be operated with one hand, and once youre done drinking, it automatically seals again to eliminate spills. Other Travel Coffee Mugs We Tested
We reviewed more than 20 best travel coffee mugs in various shapes and sizes that were under $50. We wanted a stylish mug too. After all, these are accessories as much they are tools.
People love and swear by Oxo travel mugs, and we can see why. The mug is easy to hold and comfortable to sip from. It keeps beverages nice and warm, thanks to that trusty double wall of stainless steel vacuum insulation. However, the Oxo leaks a little when tipped upside down. We wouldn’t trust it when tossed in a bag and jostled around during a train commute, though it would sit nicely in a car’s cup holder.
Tied with the Oxo mug is the Chantal mug, which also has quality insulation. We like the button on the top, which releases a seal and allows you to sip from any side of the cup. It’s easy to use and easy to drink from. The mug is small, compact, and has a cute shape, but like the Oxo, it barely passes the leak test: a few pesky drops of water drip from the top when you shake it upside down.
Though the short Hydro Flask coffee mug wouldn’t pass the throw-it-in-your-bag test, we liked that it felt like a traditional mug. This mug has solid construction and excellent heat-retaining power. The press-in lid doesn’t seal off completelythe sipping spot stays openbut it does have some splash-resistance power that helps in transport. It’d be best for a driving or walking commuter. Plus, it’s great if you have a Keurig or other single-serving coffee maker that only works with a short mug.
What Things Should You Consider Before Buying Coffee Cups
You should keep in mind several things before you place a bulk order for coffee cups. These include:
Youll want to make sure any coffee cups you buy are made from polyethylene. This material is lightweight yet durable. It is also easily recycled. If you are going to invest in a lot of coffee cups, make sure they are made from this type of material. You can also find many coffee cups which are made using recycled materials. Youll be reducing your environmental impact and getting a reliable coffee cup.
Ripple paper is an optional material added to some coffee cups to increase comfort and insulation. These cups are made of corrugated paper, making them easier to effectively hold and insulate the heat.
Insulation is one of the most important factors in any coffee cup. If you are in the market, you will want to ensure your coffee cups feature a double-wall construction. This means the cup has two layers and a liner layer sandwiched between them. This prevents heat from escaping and keeps the coffee warm.
Before you buy your set of coffee cups, you should decide whether you want them to include lids. If you decide to go for a coffee cup with a lid, you should purchase ones with tight-fitting tops that are leak-resistant and extra sturdy. This is a good idea if you expect customers or guests to take their hot beverages to go.
